CTMF Conferences focus on the challenges and opportunities to secure, de-risk, fund and find precious and industrial, critical and battery metals, and other mineral supply chains. 
CTMF Conferences feature industry thought leaders, subject matter experts, mining and exploration executives, policy advisors and various regional, provincial, state, and federal officials designing and enacting various policies operating in and impacting the global mining sector and supply chains.

Brief Overview of CTMF 2024
CTMF 2024 will start on Monday May 20, 2024 with two morning workshops (registration at ~8:30 AM; workshop start at 9:00 AM) and two afternoon workshops (starting at 1 PM until ~4:30 PM) and an evening Welcome Reception. Registrants to the CTMF 2024 Conference will be pre-registered for the Monday Welcome Reception (limited to the first 125 conference and Welcome Reception registrants). All attendees must be pre registered. No walk-ins are allowed. 

Join us for registration and breakfast starting at ~7 AM on Tuesday May 21, 2024 with the Agenda starting at ~7:40 AM, running the entire day with morning and afternoon refreshment breaks, keynotes, panels and roundtables. Same schedule on Wednesday May 22, 2024, the final day of CTMF 2024. There will be two tracks of panels, and roundtables speakers, no third track in 2024.

oin all in Shearman & Sterling's expanded, modernized conference center. Evening receptions will start at ~5:30 PM on Monday May 20, 2024,  Tuesday May 21, 2024 and Wednesday May 22, 2024 with beverages and delicious passed hors d'oeuvres. All conference registrants will be invited at no additional cost to attend any of the three evening receptions. However, on Monday May 20, only the first 125 pre registered attendees can attend the Welcome Reception

Who is SME? and NY SME?
The Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration Inc. (SME) www.smenet.org is an international society of AIME that is headquartered in Denver, Colorado. SME is a member society of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers comprised of more than 13,000 professionals serving the minerals industry in more than 100 countries.

SME members include mining executives, engineers, geologists, metallurgists, educators, students and researchers. SME advances the global wide mining and underground construction community through information exchange and professional development. 

The New York Section of SME www.smeny.org is a unit of the SME encompassing the Tri-State area, including parts of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. NY SME members are given the opportunity to network with peers and hear valuable presentations through New York SME activities including dinner meetings, receptions and on occasions in-person seminars.

New York SME dates back to 1871 when a handful of mining engineers in New York City founded the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers (AIME). We invite you to learn more about SME and and the SME Foundation and to join SME. What is CTMF? - the Current Trends in Mining Finance Conference?
The SME's annual Current Trends in Mining Finance (CTMF) conferences first started in 2013. It was conceived to provide a unique opportunity for a wide range of subject matter experts and industry executives involved in the evaluation of, advisory services to, financing and valuation of mining and exploration projects and related infrastructure activities worldwide to meet one on one with and hear many leading industry experts discuss the key issues impacting the raising of capital in the mining industry world wide. 

The format of CTMF events, include workshops, a conference and evening networking receptions that allow delegates to get questions answered by leading executives in the mining and finance industries and mining engineering firms. Also present are principals from professional advisory firms including attorneys, accountants, ESG, CSR, environmental, societal and community relations experts. The event venue is conducive to meeting with one another one-on-one and in groups. There are no exhibitor booths. 

Speakers at the conference and pre and post-conference workshops present case studies on how management and investors employ best practices and technology to anticipate, track and manage the technical and non-technical and financial risks associated with mining projects world wide. The use and adaptation of technology and innovation by the industry has consistently been core to the event agenda. Is there a charge to attend?
All attendees, including speakers must be registered in advance to attend any part of the conference, including the workshops and receptions. Space is limited.* Registration ensures proper access to the building, where the host, Shearman & Sterling is located. All delegates and speakers should register in advance here. Registrations will be monitored, and may need to be closed early. The organizers reserve the right to limit* and or restrict attendance. Registration closed early before the 7th CTMF 2019 and 6th CTMF 2018 events. Thank you Sponsors

What is included with my 2024 registration?
Your confirmed pre-conference registration includes access to the conference on Tuesday May 21 and Wednesday May 22, 2024, breakfast, lunch, morning and afternoon refreshment breaks and reception on both days, plus the Monday May 20 Welcome Reception. All must register in advance.

We hope to have adequate space for attendees to attend in-person the sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, as space is limited*, the organizers may ask some attendees to be present in a second or third boardroom that will have live video and audio feed to the main conference and or second track of panel discussions. There are additional rooms of varying size and spaces adjacent to the main conference and other rooms to relax, network, meet one on one, for quiet phone conversations, or work. The organizer reserves the right to close registration in advance of the event.

Visit receptions for details about the Monday May 20, 2024 Welcome Reception and evening receptions on Tuesday May 21 and Wednesday May 22, 2024. If you register to attend the conference, there is no additional charge to attend the evening receptions. All must register to attend any workshop on Monday May 20, 2024. The cost of attending any workshop is not part of the CTMF conference registration. 


CTMF Conference registration fees include the registration fees to attend the evening receptions. Registrants for any of the four workshops on Monday May 20, 2024 are welcome to attend the Monday May 20 Welcome Reception. To attend the receptions 
on Tuesday May 21 and Wednesday May 22 and any workshop, you do not have to register to attend the conference. However, everyone must be registered in advance for all activities. Register early, space is limited.*

Are there any continuing education credits offered for this conference?
At this time, there are not continuing education credits for attending CTMF. This may change. We welcome your suggestions by contacting us at info@smeny.org. Please let us know. The event is attended by many leaders working around the world from the mining, finance, bank, investor, advisory, engineering, accounting, legal sectors that present insights about trends in the industry.

There is limited space and tables available at the conference. There are multiple sponsorship levels that comprise the many varied opportunities to help achieve your marketing goals. Recording of proceedings and about the Media/ Press attending CTMF
NY SME asks all participants and attendees to limit the recording of CTMF events to snap shot photos. Video and audio recordings of any of the proceedings including receptions and workshops are not permitted under any circumstances, without written permission in advance of the event by the event organizers. Your registration acknowledges this, and that the organizers may use photos and or other recordings of CTMF events in future promotional and or marketing materials. Members of the press and media are welcome.

All members of the media must register in advance and the event organizers ask you to in advance, to let us know of your plans to report on CTMF events.

What about Cancellations, Refunds and or Substitutions?
Space at all CTMF events is limited. Register to attend as soon as possible. There are no guarantees that all registrants will be able to attend, and or all be in the same event room as explained above and elsewhere in the event website. NY SME will do its best to inform all about remaining space, availability and assumes no liability associated with changes and or its stopping registrations in advance of the conference dates. 

The conference organizers reserve the right to limit and or restrict attendance. There are no refunds after April 10, 2024. All attendees must register in advance. A $30 processing fee will be assessed on ‎cancellations prior to April 10, 2024 and‎ for substitutions made without advance written notice. Cancellations must be received in writing before April 10, 2024. A substitute delegate is always welcome, but the organizer must be notified in advance of the event in writing to avoid incurring a charge. Delegate substitutions may not be made at the event. If you do not attend the event or notify us of your intention to cancel, the full fee will still be payable. 

Attendees are responsible for organizing and paying for their own transportation, insurance and accommodation costs and fees, in all instances. If the conference or associated workshops and evening events need to rescheduled for any reason, the fees will be applied to the new dates. If any event is cancelled or postponed, the event organizers do not accept any responsibility for transportation, hotel, and or any other costs incurred by the delegate, speaker or sponsor.

We require some registered conference delegates to be present in a second and or third board conference room that will have live video and audio feed to the main conference room as well as a second room where the track two proceedings will originate that will be projected on multiple large flat screens and or attend in a third board room to watch and hear via the live audio/ visual feed. Additional rooms and space adjacent to the main conference room are places to relax, network, meet one on one for quiet conversation, or work.
