The NORA Health and Safety session at the SME Annual Conference centered around the issue of silica, including nano- and micro-sized particles in coal. This is not to say that the papers discussed a direct causal relationship between silica content and Coal-Workers Pneumoconiosis but it was clear that this potential cause was the driver for the research reported.
