Hello SME Outreach Resources community group!

On the call yesterday, David let us know about a partnership between the CO section and the CO Division of Reclamation Mining & Safety.

David - can we hear more about this partnership?

All others - have you or your section partnered with state agencies to promote the importance of mining and minerals in everyday life?

Be recognized for your outreach efforts! Nominate others or self nominate for the MEC Awards - nomination deadline is June 1!

The call for nominations for recognition awards for outstanding individual and group achievements in the minerals industry will remain open until June 1, 2016. Please self-nominate or nominate other individuals or groups who have made a significant contribution to minerals & mining education and outreach in their area.

Award winners will be recognized and honored at the 2017 Annual Conference & Expo. For more information and to place your nomination, please visit www.smenet.org/membership/awards/minerals-education-coalition-awards.

Please make nominations for the MEC Awards and send this information to others in the industry so that they can also make nominations of those in and outside of SME who are making a difference through education and outreach.

    Hi All.

The SME Colorado Section is partnering with the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (DRMS) on a website called ReclamationColorado.com. The website is an educational outreach site that provides the history of mine reclamation regulations, the current state of regulations, and pictorial examples of sites pre- and post-reclamation. The information is framed within the context of the mine life-cycle.

The idea came from a discussion I had with Ginny Brennan, the head of DRMS regarding how the SME Colorado Section could cooperate with and help DRMS. The website should go live within the next 60 to 90 days.

Thanks for this update, David. We'd love to see the progress of this site. Be sure to let us know when it goes live.

Do other Sections have similar experiences collaborating with other organizations on outreach?

    Let the group know!
