    Hi NorCal SME Members,
Please save the date - 16th of May - 6pm.
(Stanford University - Mitchell Earth Science Building - Hartley Conference room)
We have an exciting event in the works, that we are confident will mark a new dawn for the Northern California SME Section.
In short, this will be a meet and greet between miners and non-miners.
    Meet and greet = networking
Miners = mining engineers, process engineers, geologist, anyone with real mining or aggregate experience
Non-miners = Technology Developers, students, venture capitalists, and other people keen to speak and network with real miners.
In short, it has come to our attention (via Tyler Hall) that there is a growing interest in the mining industry amongst the Silicon Valley crowd.  These people would love to meet local "miners" (Local = Bay Area and Northern California)
Consider this event as an opportunity to grow and extend your business network with people and groups you would not normally be exposed to, but are interested in meeting real mining and aggregate professionals.
A few key guest speakers expected to attend, include:
    • Dr. Marc Herpfer - 2024 SME President
    • Dave Kanagy - SME Executive Director
    • Tom Arnold - Past President of SME and experienced mining executive
    • Josh Su - BHP Venture Investment
We are still working through the details.  We expect to have a panel discussion, BUT the core purpose of this event is to connect local mining people with local non-mining people.
So, come and grow your business network with non-mining people.
Or, come and meet other local mining people.
Or, come and listen to the panelists.
Or, come and get some snacks and drinks.
Please reach out to me (Chris - cjohnson@ugmsolutions.com) or Bill (wfdbill@comcast.net) if you have any questions.
Look out for more communications as the date nears.

    Hey Borden,

It was Tyler's initiative/idea. He was in the Stanford circles, and recognized that there is interest in mining, but those folk are not aware there are real and experienced mining people in the Bay Area.  Bill, Andy and I immediately got behind the idea.  I am warmly confident this will reinvigorate the NorCal SME Section.

It will be great to see you there.

I am looking forward to meeting you in person.  I have a software I am developing (with a team in South Africa) that you may find interesting.
