This is a modest update on the Dreyer Lecture of 2018 which Mr. Robert W. Schafer delivered as the recipient of the Robert M. Dreyer Award in Applied Economic Geology (Dreyer Award) for 2018. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding achievements in applied economic geology. The outstanding achievements so recognized must have been accomplished through commercial exploration or development of metalliferous and/or nonmetalliferous mineral deposits.
