    Dear Colleagues and Friends:

We are pleased to announce the 1st International Symposium on Mine Dust and Aerosol Research (ISMDAR) to be held Nov 15-16, 2021 (attachment). The conference is organized by Penn State. As you know, Penn State has a long history of dust research going back to the Generic Mineral Technology Center for Respirable Dust, a consortium of four universities: Penn State, West Virginia University, University of Minnesota, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Realizing the critical need for such a center or research consortium again, the Penn State Mining Engineering faculty are hosting a roundtable discussion in conjunction with this symposium to obtain industry and government agency perspectives on this important topic. The roundtable discussion will be held on Nov 16 at 3:30 PM (EST) both in-person and virtually. We will set up the in-person venue after knowing how many people to expect. Note that, currently, we are required to wear masks in all buildings unless we are at a food venue or eating.

Registration for the symposium can be accomplished on the website (www.ismdar.com). However, if you choose to attend the roundtable and just a portion of the second day of the conference, we will waive your registration fee. If you will be in-person, we will have a venue where we can all view the presentations before we break into the roundtable discussion. For those attending in-person, we would also invite you to join us for dinner (our thank you for assisting us in developing this concept).

Thank you for your interest in dust mitigation!

    Attached is the final program.
