SME Carolinas Section Annual Meeting and Field Trip 2024

Attached is the program for our annual meeting and field trip.  Nutrien is sponsoring our meeting at its mine site training facility in Aurora, NC, and will present several talks on the mining and processing of phosphate ore.  Due to regulations, a field trip to the mine or plant is not an option.  However, some of the mining activities will be observable from adjacent roads.

A catered dinner at the Commission House, part of historic Tryon Palace, will be followed by a short business meeting.  We need to elect new officers, especially a Treasurer,  to keep our Section active.  Please be ready to volunteer for this important position.

A field trip is planned to the Aurora Fossil Museum where, in conjunction with Nutrien, fresh fossil rich Miocene (25-5 MYA)overburden will be dumped for our use.  A sponsored lunch is tentatively scheduled after collecting.
