In addition there is a silent auction being held online as well. The various division silent auctions and SME Foundation silent auction are often lively events when we are in person and outbidding our friends and colleagues with a cocktail in one hand. The bidding is now open and if you ever wished you could see what the other divisions were auctioning off, now is your chance. You can even bid on items for all the silent auctions. A login on Accelevents must be created for either of these activities, which is a minor inconvenience for the chance to bid from the comfort of your living-room (cocktail optional). Click the link above to peruse the various donations of jewelry, mining memorabilia, mineral specimens, mobile equipment models, sports memorabilia, adult beverages, and much, much more!
The Division auctions go to fund division scholarships, and the Foundation auctions and raffle benefit the SME Foundation, which supports education initiatives within the industry as well as education of the public through the Minerals Education Coalition, plus charitable activities like Miners Give Back. The Foundation is a registered non-profit and donations to the Foundation are tax deductible.
We may be denied the social aspect of our typical Annual Meeting, but at least we can still enjoy some of the activities! And if you have not explored the virtual meeting offerings, please check them out here:

There will be a selection of "simu-live" presentations that are recorded and played at specific times with the authors present to answer questions. There will also be a number of keynote addresses throughout the week. The virtual platform gives the unique opportunity to watch a number of pre-recorded "on-demand" sessions up to 60 days after the March 1-5 live event. There is even a virtual Exhibit Hall where you can connect with specific vendors. So check this out!
