Chicago, IL would be ideal for me. I personally live in Bronzeville on the Southside. One venue that comes to mind is one of the establishments at the Chicago Athletic Association in the loop (ie The Drawing Room, The Game Room, Cherry Circle Room, or Cindy's). Another option maybe in Hyde Park and possibly at the University of Chicago. I am organizing and leading efforts here across the University for events related to the minerals and metals sector (I will share details soon with the community in separate threads).
