From Steve Gardner, 2025 AIME President and 2015 SME President

It has been my honor to serve as the 2025 President of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers (AIME). As such I selected Lexington for our Annual Board meeting on Thursday August 7 where we are able to combine the meeting with the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME) Central Appalachian Section's 38th Annual Professional Engineers in Mining (PEM) Seminar on Friday August 8.

Since the Leadership of AIME's member societies will be in town they have agreed to lead off the PEM seminar morning session with updates and overviews of each society and how each work for the betterment of society in the energy and materials sectors:

National Leadership of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers (AIME) and Member Societies

o Steve Gardner, 2025 AIME President and 2015 SME President

o Barbette Barlow, AIME Executive Director

Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST)

o Ron Ashburn, AIST Executive Director

o Ron O'Malley, AIME President Elect & AIST Past President 2019-2021

    Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)

o Simon Seaton, SPE Executive Director

o Shauna Noonan, AIME President Elect Designate & 2020 SPE President

o Brad Boyce, AIME Trustee & 2023 TMS President

Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME)

    o Dave Kanagy, Executive Director

o Bill Hancock, 2025 SME President

The afternoon session features the leadership of the Kentucky Energy & Environment Cabinet Department for Natural Resources in a Roundtable on Oil, Gas & Mining issues. The Seminar also features several other technical presentations on mining, environmental and regulatory issues, all for 8 hours of continuing education credits or PDH's.

I would like to personally invite you and your membership/staff to register and attend either the reception and/or seminar. It will be an opportunity to meet others in person from similar fields who trace their origins to the founding of AIME in 1871, one of the country's first engineering and professional societies.

ATTACHED IS AN AGENDA, SCHEDULE AND REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR THE RECEPTION AND SEMINAR.

PLEASE CIRCULATE TO YOUR MEMBERSHIP AND OTHERS WHO MAY BE INTERESTED.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Steve
