Here is an intro note on the hybrid programs offered by GBC.  Please consider and distribute to colleagues, crew, and as appropriate.  Contact information follows.

    Access

Online (didactic) learning lets students study on their own schedule which allows educational pursuits if they are working, have family responsibilities, competing priorities, or just learn better on their own. At the same time, coming to campus for labs ensures each student still gets the structured, supervised training that can't replicate at home. The labs also help develop muscle memory which is critical for trades programs.

    Job Readiness

Companies all over the world, including the local mining industry, are innovating and integrating technologies into the work they do. The hybrid learning modality helps familiarize students with technologies, helping them be more comfortable with computers and electronics. This will help them be better prepared for the advancements they will see in the working world.

    Flexible schedule

The hybrid schedule includes weekly lab assignments where students meet each Friday for hands-on assignments designed to support their online learning. Each hybrid section runs for 15 months, which also caters to part-time learners who have competing priorities. Friday lab days are scheduled for 8 hours.

    Cost savings

There are multiple ways hybrid schedules provide cost savings for students. Some highlighted cost savings include:

    ·         Reduced commutes to campus

    ·         Allows employed learners to stay at their job

    ·         Housing/relocation expenses are not necessary for those who live further away from a campus

While tuition costs remain the same, the other costs associated with pursuing a degree are reduced or eliminated. We also have scholarships available for this academic year.

    Available programs with lab location:

    ·                 Diesel: Elko and Ely (next cohort starts in January 2027)

    ·                 Electrical: Winnemucca (next cohort starts in August 2026)
