Project Cornerstone is offering a free workshop for elementary, middle, and high school teachers on the science and economics of the natural resources used in producing concrete. This workshop will provide rock-solid tools and hands-on activities to implement in the classroom that will keep students engaged and excited about learning science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), history and economics. The labs and activities will also support the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Project Cornerstone's curriculum provides a solution to the shortage of lessons that are tailored to fit NGSS and easy to integrate into the classroom. Choosing concrete as a phenomena for NGSS allows for a sustainable and cost-effective lesson specifically built around the Next Generation Science Standards. Our "Science of Concrete and Aggregates" lesson includes crosscutting concepts that can be adapted for all grade levels, connecting science with math and history.
