The Government and Public Affairs Committee of SME has issued its 15th technical briefing paper, “
The Role of Arsenic in the Mining Industry.” This paper, along with the others developed by GPAC, is designed to be used as a fact-based educational tool for elected officials, the media and the general public. The paper addresses mining industry safety and best practices.
SME’s Government and Public Affairs Committee helps leverage the expertise of its membership to create a system for providing timely, accurate, fact-based, non-partisan technical information in response to urgent inquiries from SME stakeholders on topics concerning mining, minerals and extractive industries; and has developed a structured program to create Technical Briefing papers for informing and educating SME audiences.
