The Colorado Mining Association hosted a breakfast meeting with U.S. Representative Scott Tipton (R-CO, District 3) today in Denver, CO. Rep. Tipton’s district encompasses the western slope and virtually all of Colorado’s coal and molybdenum mines. Representing SME as special projects manager, I joined executives from statewide mining operations and industry representatives for the informal briefing. Even though we frequently “preach to the choir” about legislation affecting the mining community, meetings like this are always beneficial. The Congressman serves as Chairman of the House Small Business Subcommittee on Agriculture, Energy and Trade, is a member of two House Natural Resources Subcommittees and the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Conservation, Energy and Forestry.
