U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg told the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee during a confirmation hearing that the Biden administration plans to move forward on a new $11.6 billion Gateway Tunnel under the Hudson River, connecting New York and New Jersey. The new tunnel would be built alongside an existing tunnel that is nearly 100 years old and in desperate need of repair or replacement..

Santa Clara VTA releases RFQ for tunnel and trackwork on BART Phase II


The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) has released a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to identify potential contractors that qualify to compete for award of the progressive design-build tunnel and trackwork contract for the largest infrastructure project in Santa Clara County, Calif. Big year ahead for Fort Wayne Tunnel Project


The new year figures to be an important one as the City of Fort Wayne, Indiana, presses toward completion of a deeprock tunnel that will greatly reduce river pollution."MamaJo," the Tunnel Boring Machine (whose name is derived from the three rivers that flow through the city), has now drilled its way more than three miles on its nearly five-mile course. Completion of the tunnel boring later this year does not mark the end of the project. The intricate connection to the many neighborhood sewers is scheduled to take place thereafter, with the tunnel going operational in 2023.
