Registration is open for the 2019 SME Annual Conference & Expo and 121st National Western Mining Conference

SME announces recipients of 2018 mining academic grants 

The Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME) is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 2019 SME Annual Conference & Expo and 121st National Western Mining Conference.

With the theme “Smart Mining: Resources for a Connected World,” this year’s conference gives attendees access to a forum of more than 6,000 industry professionals from across the world to share innovative ideas, best practices and cutting-edge research.

"Our leading technical program offers quality, innovative professional development unparalleled in the industry," said David Kanagy, SME Executive Director. "Attendees expect a top-notch conference from SME and this year promises to deliver. We're excited for February."

This conference is a unique opportunity for attendees to gain valuable insights into the evolution of mining and metallurgy practices in a digital world. The conference features more than 120 technical sessions and an expansive marketplace of more than 550 exhibiting companies. A perennial conference favorite, short courses provide opportunities for in-depth learning. This year's offerings include:

MSHA: Introduction to the Mine Safety & Health Administration and Annual Refresher Training.

Traditional Mine to Mill to Value Chain Optimization.

Geometallurgy: From Exploration to Remediation.

Bulk Material Handling: Design Practices to Increase Conveyor Safety and Reliability while Reducing Total Cost of Ownership.

New this year, the Certified Mine Safety Professional (CMSP) certification exam will be offered. Attendees have the opportunity to take the CMSP exam prior to the conference opening, enhancing their professional standing in the health & safety community.
