Safety Share: 5 Fundamentals of Safety

Five fundamentals of safety that everyone should apply before attempting to begin an unfamiliar project:
  1. Knowledge; be sure to have knowledge about what you are going to do; if not, gain it.
  2. Attitude; never do anything that is not clearly focused in your mind.
  3. Observation; look at your surroundings and confirm you have the right tools for the job.
  4. Cooperation; if you are working with someone, make sure everyone is on the same page and communicate clearly.
  5. Consideration; be sincere and think of others.

The Mining in Society merit badge presents Scouts, ages 11-17, with an honest and positive exposure to mining. Learn how YOU can share your mining knowledge with eager young men and women in your community by becoming a merit badge counselor with Scouts BSA.
