St. Barbara's Day Award

Barbara Filas, former SME President (2005), received the 2013 St. Barbara’s Day award at the annual celebration hosted by the Colorado Mining Association, SME and the Denver Gold Group. David Kanagy, SME Executive Director, presented the award to Filas at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Denver, CO. The award recognizes her outstanding contributions to the mining industry, particularly in the State of Colorado.

St. Barbara is the patron saint of miners, artillery soldiers and those in danger of sudden death by explosives.
Beginning in 1991, CMA joined with other groups to sponsor the annual event.


SME Executive Director Dave Kanagy presents the St. Barbara's Award to Barbara Filas.
